Exploring the pyramids of Chichen Itza

When my wife and I went on our honeymoon to Mexico, one of the places that we planned to visit was Chichen Itza in Mexico.

Where is Chichen Itza?

Chichen Itza is located in the Yucatan in Mexico.

For our honeymoon, we were staying at Playa Del Carmen and it was a 2.5h drive to get to Chichen Itza.

But, if you are someone that’s curious about ancient history and seeing relics, then you won’t be disappointed.

This landmark has been around since the Mayan era. I remember when I was in elementary school, I had read a book about the origins of basketball. I’d actually learned (but didn’t realize) that the first known form of the game came from Mexico.

Upon visiting, I would actually realize that Chichen Itza was the place where the first origins of basketball was played.

Below, you will see pictures of the iconic Chichen Itza!

I managed to get a photo of myself standing in front of Chichen Itza without people in the frame. There were so many people there to see the pyramid.

The thing is when you are outside of the pyramid, you can clap and the sound echos back from inside the pyramid.

There were smaller artifacts nearby as well.

When you clap, the echo of your clap comes from this door.

And this one was another interesting relic that was in the area.

It’s definitely worth a visit. I didn’t take as many photos or videos as I should have. But for anyone that is travelling there in the future, definitely take as many as you can.
